Sheilagh McGreal, MS-ATR, LCAT
I'm grateful to be part of your journey of healing and wellness! I am a strong believer in making authentic and genuine connections with people through compassion and empathy. I am a deeply introspective person who understands, supports, and specializes in neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism), sensitivity, and creatives- it is my passion to help individuals develop a way of life that helps them thrive in the world.
How did I find my way to becoming an Art Therapist?
Early in life I found a deep love for creativity while simultaneously feeling passionate about supporting people. (I was often the friend who listened and supported others, so psychology was in the books for me.) Along the way, my creativity was becoming a frontrunner to my therapist dream. I took a brief hiatus to study art and pursue that side that frequently beckoned me. During those years my creativity helped me through some difficult and challenging times of life. The connection to my art-making was profound and healing in a way I never imagined. The marriage of these two things solidified my belief this was my true calling in life and wanted to share this with others.
Who am I?
I've been told I am an "old soul" who is intuitive, nurturing, and welcoming with an empathic way of listening and responding. I embrace my quirky, weird, and gentle humorous side while helping people find their true self and bring forward their strengths. As an introspective person, I see the world in a holistic, caring manner. I am an animal lover, inspired by nature, music, and all things creative. My personal art passion is using mixed media (combining different art mediums.)
What are my awesome therapist skills?
As a psychotherapist, my approach is to look at the "whole picture" while tending to the smaller parts. My intuitive side caters to the needs of each individual and believe mental health education is an additional cornerstone to healing. My therapy approach is person-centered- which means you decide what you want to work on, change, or improve. I believe you are valuable and worthy- the investment in yourself can help you reach a more fulfilling life.
